Privacy Policy

What TriEdit and this website collect, why, and the choices you have.

Effective 25 October 2026

In short: TriEdit works on your computer, and your documents never leave it. The only thing the app can send is a one-time installation report, and only if you choose Allow when TriEdit asks: your operating system, its version and your processor type. Nothing that identifies you.

Who we are

TriEdit is made by Animated Interactive Objects and Neural Software (AIONS). Questions about privacy go to triedit@aions.click or through our contact page.

Your documents

Documents, spreadsheets and presentations are opened, edited and saved on your computer. TriEdit does not upload them, sync them or look at what is in them. Spelling and grammar checks, the dictionary, the resume maker and the add-in tools (QR codes, word clouds, the unit converter and the rest) all work offline.

Counting installations

The first time TriEdit starts on a computer (right after the Windows setup finishes, or the first time you run it after installing with Homebrew), it asks whether it may tell us that it has been installed. The window shows exactly what would be sent. If you choose Allow, TriEdit sends this once:

  • the name of your operating system, for example Windows, macOS or Linux;
  • its version, for example "11 (10.0.26100)", "14.5" or "Ubuntu 24.04 LTS";
  • your processor architecture, for example x64 or arm64.

Our server saves these three values with the date and time the report arrived, in a private text file on our server that is not published. We use them only to count installations and to show the totals for Windows, macOS and Linux on our download page. We do not sell or share them.

The report contains no name, email address, account, computer name, serial number, device ID, location, file names, document content or information about how you use TriEdit.

Like any connection on the internet, the report reaches our server from your IP address. We do not save the IP address with the report. To stop one address from inflating the count, the server keeps a scrambled, one-way code made from the address (it cannot be turned back into the address) for the rest of that day, and deletes it afterwards.

If you choose Don't send, or close the window, nothing is sent. You can change your choice at any time with Privacy on TriEdit's Help tab. Because a report contains nothing that identifies you, we cannot tell which record came from your computer, so a report that was already sent cannot be singled out afterwards. The records are kept for as long as we show installation totals.

Dictate

Dictate turns speech into text on your computer. What you say is never sent anywhere. The first time you use it, TriEdit asks before downloading a speech model (75 MB or larger) from Hugging Face, where the open-source Whisper models are published; that download is an ordinary file download from their servers.

Downloads

The Windows setup is downloaded from this website. On macOS and Linux, Homebrew downloads TriEdit from our releases on GitHub, so GitHub's own privacy statement applies to that download.

This website

  • Contact form. Your name, email address, subject and message are sent to us by email so that we can reply. The security picture (CAPTCHA) is made on our own server, without any outside service; it uses a session cookie that your browser deletes when it closes, and each picture is valid for 10 minutes.
  • Installation totals. The download page loads the current totals from our server. Loading them sends nothing about you.
  • No tracking. The website has no advertising, analytics or tracking cookies. Like most websites, our hosting provider may keep standard server logs (such as IP addresses and the pages requested) for security and operation.

Changes to this policy

If TriEdit ever needs to collect anything else, we will update this policy and ask you in the app before anything new is sent. The date at the top shows when the policy last changed.
